Named for their velvety softness, Spike is part of the Velveteen dinosaur collection. Spike Triceratops measures 19 inches from head to tail. These Velveteen Dinos are weighted, providing extra comfort. Picked as one of the Best Toys from Toy Fair 2020 by Fatherly.
My kid refuses to let go of this thing at bedtime — the 19-inch size is perfect for hugging, and the weight in it makes it feel oddly calming to hold. Even after a week of being dragged around, the velveteen surface still feels just as soft as day one.
The velvety fabric on Spike is even softer than the photos suggest, and the 19-inch size is perfect for hugging on the couch. I love how the weighted body makes him feel substantial without being too heavy. He's become my go-to reading buddy.
The weight is what sold me—it makes him feel like he’s actually snuggling into you, and the velvety fur is absurdly soft. My kid won’t put him down, and at 19 inches he’s the perfect size to haul around everywhere.
